The Hungarian Taekwondo Federation (HTF) secretary general has praised his country's hosting of the European Cadet Taekwondo Championships earlier this month and hopes it will grow the sport in his country.

Budapest staged the championships between October 2 and 5.

HTF secretary general Viktor Kazinczy oversaw the event and believes hosting it could grow the sport in his homeland.

“This event is a great opportunity to promote the sport in our country," he said.

"We have our specific plan concerning the marketing and the operational line we follow in order to maximise the championships' outcome and thus taekwondo will be even more attractive to the new athletes.”

Kazinczy has held his position since February 2017 and the European Cadet Taekwondo Championships were the first major competition during his tenure.

He also complimented the support given to him by HTF President Miklos Patakfalvy during the organisational period.

“Miklos is a great personality, a very kind person and is enormously supporting to the others," added Kazinczy.

"I feel grateful for cooperating with him and so our ideas and actions bring the best of the results.

"Hopefully, in the future and always by his side, we can achieve even more experiences and successes.”
