London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Jessica Rossi claimed the women’s trap title on day two of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Championships in Moscow.
The 25-year-old Italian scored an unrivalled total of 43 hits out of 50 at the Foxlodge Shooting Range.
Reigning Olympic champion Catherine Skinner of Australia finished second with 41 hits, while Slovakia’s Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova rounded out the podium with 32.
Spain’s Fatima Galvez, the 2015 world champion, ended up in fourth place on 27 hits.
Finland's Marika Salmi and the United States' Ashley Carroll completed the top six with 22 and 16 hits respectively.
There was also success for Italy today in the women’s junior trap final with Maria Lucia Palmitessa securing top honours with a total of 40 hits.
Home favourite Iuliia Saveleva secured the silver medal with 39 hits, while Palmitessa’s compatriot Diana Ghilarducci took the bronze with 26.
Both the men’s and men’s junior trap finals are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The event in Russia’s capital is due to conclude on September 10.
