Belarus' Yury Shcherbatsevich won his second individual gold of the European Shooting Championships in Baku by triumphing in the men's rifle three positions event.

Shcherbatsevich had already won the men's 50 metres rifle prone title and impressed again by topping qualifying for the three positions competition.

He was then locked in a battle with Serhiy Kulish during the final, with the Ukrainian shooter heading into the standing stage of the competition with a narrow lead.

Shcherbatsevich was able to move into the lead during the latter stages of the event, finishing as the gold medallist on a score of 461.4.

Kulish claimed the silver medal with a tally of 458.1, while Austria’s Alexander Schmirl completed the podium on 447.6.

"I have never before won any European gold medals and that's why it is important to me," said Shcherbatsevich.

"I have some other colours.

"I have trained well for these Championships.

"Six days a week and once or twice a day."

Shcherbatsevich also combined with Vitali Bubnovich and Illia Chareika to win the team competition, as Belarus finished with a score of 3,463.

Norway and Germany rounded off the podium, achieving scores of 3,441 and 3,436 respectively.

The first edition of the women’s trap team competition saw Russia emerge as the winners, overcoming France 33-28 in the gold medal match.

Slovakia beat Italy 29-25 to win bronze.
