West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee after making deliberate physical contact with Pakistan's Sarfraz Ahmed.

The incident happened during the fourth day of the first test match between the sides on April 24, at Sabina Park in Jamaica's capital Kingston.

Gabriel was found to have violated Article 2.2.7 of the International Cricket Council Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

At the end of the 102nd over of Pakistan's first innings, Gabriel made contact with the Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman at the non-striker's end.

He admitted the offence and has accepted the fine which was suggested, meaning there was no need for a formal hearing.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Richard Kettleborough, third umpire Bruce Oxenford and fourth umpire Gregory Brathwaite.

Gabriel was collecting his cap from Illingworth at the time of the incident.

He took four wickets in the match but Pakistan won by seven wickets to take the lead in the three-match series.

Ahmed made 54 in the first Pakistan innings and was not required in the second.
