Typhoo Tea have agreed to sponsor the National Junior Athletics Championships and nine regional qualifying events organised by the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS).

It is the third year the company have partnered with the charity with their Sports for All programme.

This project aims to increase the number of young disabled people in England taking part in sport.

“Sport unites people and, at Typhoo, bringing communities together is an important part of what we do,” said the company’s chief executive Somnath Saha.

“Supporting the EFDS again this year, we look forward to providing more opportunities for young disabled people to compete at a high level as part of our ongoing Sports for All programme.”

EFDS chief executive Barry Horne said having Typhoo support them for a third year is “fantastic”.

“This is a much-loved programme and every year we enjoy seeing how many people get involved in this athletics programme, whether taking part or volunteering,” he said.

“Typhoo’s support means we can ensure more disabled people can reap the benefits of an active lifestyle.”

Each year, more than 1,400 athletes take part in the championship run by EFDS.

This year’s national event will take place on July 1 and 2 at the Warwick Athletics Stadium, with up to 200 competitors set to feature after the regional rounds, which start this month.
