Colombia Heroics made it five wins out of five in Group A of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) after claiming a 4-1 away victory against Caciques Venezuela at the Domo José María Vargas in Vargas.

Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Yurberjen Martinez overcame Yonny Calderones Torrealba at light-flyweight, while there were unanimous points wins for bantamweight Leonel De Los Santos Nunez, middleweight Jorge Vivas and heavyweight Deivis Julio against Jose Diaz Azocar, Johan Gonzalez Mendez and Alfonso Flores Millan respectively.

Venezuela’s sole victory came courtesy of light-welterweight Luis Arcon Diaz, who defeated Elvis Rodriguez 3-0.

Colombia have a maximum 15 points and are two clear of Cuba Domadores, 4-1 victors on their trip to face Argentina Condors at the Club Sportivo América in Rosario today.

Heavyweight Erislandy Savon, a Rio 2016 bronze medallist, helped Cuba to victory with a unanimous points win over Yamil Alberto Peralta Jara.

Light-flyweight Leandro Blanc beat Jorge Griñan to put Argentina on the board, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

Group A is due to conclude on April 21 when Cuba welcome Colombia to Havana and Argentina play host to Venezuela.

Tomorrow’s WSB action sees Group C take centre stage with China Dragons travelling to the Martial Arts Palace in Kazan to face Russia’s Patriot Boxing Team and Uzbek Tigers competing in front of a home crowd against Astana Arlans Kazakhstan at the Universal Sport Complex in Tashkent.
