The Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) hosted a ceremony for the country's athletes who competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in August.

COM President Carlos Padilla Becerra oversaw the event in Mexico City alongside officials from national and international sporting bodies.

Members of the Government also attended as well as medallists from former editions of the Olympic Games and members of the media.

Mexico's International Olympic Committee honorary member Olegario Vázquez Raña, the President of the International Shooting Sport Federation, presented Rio 2016 participation pins to the country's five medallists in the Brazilian city.

Pins were also given to all other participants in Rio, while a plaque featuring the names of the five medallists was unveiled.

This included taekwondo player María del Rosario Espinoza, who won a medal for the third consecutive Olympic Games.

The 29-year-old won over-69 kilograms silver after winning gold in the same category at Beijing 2008 and bronze at London 2012.

For her efforts she was awarded a special distinction prize at the ceremony.

Mexico won two other silver medals and two bronzes in Rio.

Race walker María Guadalupe González was second in the women's 20 kilometres race with diver Germán Sánchez the runner-up in the men's 10 metre platform.

Bronzes went to boxer Misael Rodríguez in the men's middleweight division and modern pentathlete Ismael Hernández.
