The German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB) has awarded its biennial science prize in Frankfurt.

This year's recipients are Stefanie Hüttermann of the German Sporthochschule in Cologne and Marcel Reinold of the Westphalian Wilhelms-Universität in Münster.

Hüttermann, a junior professor, was awarded for her work, "The Attention Window Model - An Exploration of Various Factors for the Size and Shape of the Visual Attention Focus in Sport".

Reinold was successful after submitting a dissertation on anti-doping policy.

More than 29 entries from various fields and disciplines of sports science were submitted for the prize.

The DOSB says the prize "distinguishes outstanding sports science qualification work".

Alfons Hörmann, President of the DOSB, said the prize was becoming more important than ever.

"Sport Germany needs the scientific support more than ever before," he said.
