Olympic bronze medallist Matt Antoine will headline the United States men's skeleton team for the new World Cup season.

The 31-year-old, who claimed the third step on the podium at the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, was the stand-out performer at the US Bobsled & Skeleton (USABS) men's trials to once again earn his World Cup place.

Antoine, who also won the mixed team gold medal at the 2012 World Championships on home ice in Lake Placid, was sixth overall in the World Cup last season, the annual series run by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF).

His best finish was fourth - which he achieved twice at his home venue in Park City and then again at Whistler in Canada.

He will be joined in the men's squad for the 2016-17 season by Nathan Crumpton and Kyle Tress.

In the women's team, Anne O'Shea was awarded a bye straight into the squad after finishing fourth in the overall standings last season.

She won the meeting in Lake Placid and was second in Whistler, with her performance meaning she was allowed to skip the trials.

Katie Uhlaender, the singles world champion in 2012 and a three-time Winter Olympian, was required to qualify however and came through to join O'Shea.

The 32-year-old was also part of the mixed team gold medallists, alongside Antoine, in Lake Placid in 2012.

Kendall Wesenberg, who finished 11th last season, also earned her spot for another World Cup campaign.

The season will begin in Whistler between December 2 and 3.
