Olympic silver medallist Kent Farrington won the latest leg of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) North American League World Cup Jumping at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

The current world number four rider was on board Voyeur, the horse he rode as part of the United States team which claimed Olympic team silver at Rio 2016 in August.

He was successful today after 14 horse and rider combinations went clear first time around to force a jump-off.

Farrington went clear again in the quickest time of 36.93sec to claim top honours at the CP National Horse Show.

Compatriot Callan Solem also went clear in the jump-off, clocking 40.69 on board VDL Wizard to finish second.

An all-American 1-2-3 was completed by Molly Ashe who went clear on Carissimo in the jump-off in the third swiftest time of 45.86.

"I had my plan for that horse for what I think his weaknesses are and for where I needed to help him," said Farrington.

"Voyeur’s very strong so I just have to watch that he isn’t too aggressive.

"I was really hungry to win something, and I wanted to slam the door closed and make everyone chase me.

"It was a big field with a lot of good riders behind me.

"When you have those kinds of competitors, you have to take a shot or you’re not going to win."

After four legs of the North American League, Farrington leads the Western Sub-Section table with 62 points ahead of compatriot Audrey Coulter who has 42.

Another American in Lauren Tisbo is third on 36 before the next event is due at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, Canada, on November 9.
