India claimed all three men’s freestyle gold medals on offer as action begun today at the Commonwealth Senior Wrestling Championships in Singapore.

Rio 2016 Olympian Sandeep Tomar was among the trio of winners at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, beating Pakistan's Mohammad Bilal 6-0 in the 57 kilograms category final. 

Amit Dhankar beat fellow countryman Vinod Kumar to the 70kg division crown, while Satyawart Kadian secured top honours in the 97kg after compatriot Roubaljeet Singh pulled out of the final due to injury.

The Asian nation were also the dominant force in the women’s freestyle competition, with Ritu Phogat beating Priyanka to 48kg gold in one of five all-Indian finals.

Lalita overcame Diyanshi in the 55kg final, while there were also wins for Mannu at 58kg, Reshma at 63kg and Pinki at 69kg to the disappointment of Somali, Gargi and Kavita respectively.

India’s supremacy extended to the men’s Greco-Roman competition with the country taking gold and silver in five of the six categories played out today.

Manish outdid Ravinder at 66kg, and there were also triumphs for Gurpreet over Dinesh at 75kg, Harpreet Singh over Ravinder Khatri at 80kg, Prabhpal over Yashpal at 85kg, and Naveen Kumar over Manvir Singh at 130kg.

Action in Singapore is set to conclude tomorrow with the qualification rounds and finals in the remaining five men’s freestyle categories - 61kg, 65kg, 74kg, 86kg and 125kg - and remaining three Greco-Roman categories - 59kg, 71kg and 98kg.
