The Hungarian city of Györ, organiser of next summer's European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), welcomed the EYOF Coordination Commission and technical delegates from the continent's Olympic Committees.

The visit acted as a "thorough check" on the current state of preparations for the event.

The EYOF is a multi-sport festival for young European athletes between the ages of 14 and 18, with the 2017 edition set to take place between July 22 and 30.

The Organising Committee and Coordination Commission spent time with various departments and discussed in detail the current state of preparations.

All of the delegates, on their first visit to Györ, received a general presentation and were given a detailed tour of all sports venues, as well as discussing various organisational details.

The outcome of the visit was said to be "very positive" with the Organising Committee claiming to have made "great progress since the last CoCom visit".

Construction work on the Athletes' Village continues and the new sports complex which will host four sports is said to be proceeding according to the planned schedule.

A small number of test events have been organised while others are planned for the coming months.

Volunteer recruitment is also said to be proceeding successfully, while the event's mascot Hugoo is currently taking part in a number of public events organised in Györ.

"Overall we can say that both the CoCom and the technical delegates left Györ with very positive feelings," said the Organising Committee in a statement.

"They had firm belief that the Györ EYOF will be hosted at top level, and provide all participants with great conditions and services."

The Chefs de Mission meeting is the next major event to be held in Györ, and is scheduled for between April 25 and 28 next year.
