The Olympic Council of Asia's (OCA) television audit team visited the 2018 Asian Games co-host city of Palembang to inspect the TV and media facilities.

Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra, will co-host the OCA’s 18th Asian Games with Indonesia's capital city Jakarta from August 18 to September 2, 2018, with around 10,000 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees due to take part.

Consultant Dan Hubp and media manager Jeans Zhou Jian visited the sites of the Palembang Promotion Centre, venues, the Athletes’ Village, the Media Village and other Games-related infrastructure.

"I am pleased to see the state of the preparations so far,” said Hupb, when reviewing the Jakabaring Sports City.

He added that the main purpose of his visit was to review the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), the Main Press Centre (MPC) and the Media Village.

The focus was particularly on the availability of the rooms that will be used as the IBC and MPC in Palembang.

"From everything that we have seen on the visit, the buildings and infrastructure are in place," added Hupb.

"The only thing necessary is to add more facilities."

A total area of 10,000 square metres is needed for the IBC.

With the main IBC and MPC in Jakarta, the Palembang operation will require around 2,000 square metres for the TV centre and media working room.

It was decided in September last year that Jakarta would co-host the Asian Games with Palembang.

Eleven sports are due to take place in Palembang, which is a 45 minute flight away from Jakarta.
