A summit to discuss developing minigolf is being organised in Africa, with eight countries set to attend.

The African Minigolf Summit is being organised by the World Minigolf Sport Federation (WMF) in Kisumu in Kenya and is due to start tomorrow and finish on Sunday (September 18). 

Representatives from Botswana, Cameroon Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Togo are all expected to attend the Summit. 

The challenges of minigolf development in different African countries will be discussed during the historic forum, including setting up education programmes in Africa and how to invest in the sport. 

Possible WMF participation in social campaigns will be also be discussed.

It is also planned to elect the first-ever African Minigolf Sport Federation Executive Committed.

Representatives to the WMF Executive Committee and Technical Committee are also due to be elected. 

"WMF takes this responsibility for social activities according to the spirit of the Olympic Movement and considers Africa as a very important continent for minigolf development," the WMF said in a statement. 

"There are a lot of minigolf courses in different African countries, but there are also many opportunities to develop minigolf from a 'street' level towards a professional sport and Continental Championships in the near future."
