The 2017 edition of SPORTELAmerica will again be held in Miami and will take place from March 14 to 16, organisers have announced.

The convention will gather top level executives from a wide range of firms, including broadcasters, television networks, international sports federations, marketing agencies, production companies, rights owners and satellite providers at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel.

The venue also played host to the 2015 event, attended by 689 people from 355 companies and 41 countries.

"Time’s passed quickly since SPORTELAmerica welcomed you in Miami," SPORTEL chief executive Laurent Puons said.

"Many of you have waited for this moment and it’s finally here - SPORTELAmerica will open doors for you again from March 14 to 16 in 2017."

SPORTEL are hoping to capitalise on the new sports opportunities generated in the Americas across a wide range of areas after Rio de Janeiro hosted the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

SPORTELAmerica is the main networking platform for the entire Americas but the event, held in alternate years to SPORTELAsia, also attracts leading figures from all over the world.

General manager Amparo Di Fede hopes the convention in the American city will continue the development of the event as a whole, predicting it will be an “explosion of new business opportunities”.

"It’s been important past two years for SPORTEL and its development," she said.

"Thanks to you SPORTEL has grown in importance and size.

"SPORTELMonaco has doubled in exhibition space, SPORTELAsia was a sensation and SPORTELAmerica 2017 promises to be an explosion of new business opportunities.”

The event in Miami will be held after the 2016 SPORTELMonaco conference, which is scheduled to be held from October 24 to 27.

Nearly 2,800 participants attended the 2015 SPORTELMonaco convention.
