Advance ticket sales have opened at all venues ahead of ski jumping's 2016-17 Four Hills Tournament.

The prestigious event, which forms part of the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup season, sees a men's winner crowned based on the results from four famous venues.

Winning a Four Hills title is one of the sport's most prized accolades with the first event of the new season taking place in Oberstdorf in Germany on December 30.

On January 1 another German hill, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, will play host, before the Four Hills moves to Austria for competitions in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen on January 4 and 6 respectively.

"The run on tickets for the Four Hills Tournament continues, so we decided to start the ticket sale for all four venues as early as never before," said Michael Maurer, the President of the event.

A record 126,000 fans attended the Four Hills tournament during the 2015-16 campaign and organisers expect arenas to once again be full.

The 2016-17 edition will be the 65th time the competition has been held.

The defending champion is Slovenia's Peter Prevc, who also wrapped up the overall World Cup title during a dominant season.

He won the events in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen after Germany's Severin Freund claimed the opening title in Oberstdorf.
