The Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV) has unveiled the uniform the country's team will wear at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

A ceremony was held in capital Caracas where some of the nation's top athletes modelled the new gear, including track and field's Roy Ramírez and Gerson Izaguirre and equestrian's Irini Muro.

Members of the COV's Executive Board, chaired by Eduardo Álvarez, were also in attendance along with Ruy Pereira, the Brazilian ambassador to Venezuela.

The Government was represented through Minister for Youth and Sports Merwin Maldonado, while the President of the National Sports Institute, Pedro Infante, was also on hand alongside officials from national governing bodies and the media.

Venezuela won one medal at the London 2012 Olympics - a gold for fencer Rubén Limardo in the men's individual epee.

He defeated Norway's Bartosz Piasecki in the final and later made headlines when he was spotted wearing his medal on the London Underground.

In the build-up to Rio, Álvarez has also held meetings with his Bolivian counterpart Marco Arze.

The two South American countries have been discussing strengthening ties between the nations.

Education will be a key part of the link-up.
