Hosts Italy maintained their perfect start at the women's 2016 International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS) Inline Hockey World Championships by thrashing Latvia at the Hodegart Arena Asiago.

Having defeated Iran 5-0 yesterday, Italy beat Latvia 12-0 in an extremely one-sided contest.

Today’s other Pool D match saw Finland inflict a heavy 17-0 loss on Iran at the PalaRobaan in Roana.

A hat-trick for Michaela Jancova helped Czech Republic start their Pool A campaign with a 6-0 win over Taiwan, who had earlier lost 3-1 against Switzerland.

There was also a second win in as many games for Canada, 8-0 victors at the expense of Sweden.

In Pool B, France recovered from a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the United States yesterday to beat Australia 6-1.

The Americans made it two wins out of two by overcoming New Zealand 4-0.

Fresh from beating Namibia 8-0 yesterday, Spain did likewise in Pool D by defeating Great Britain 3-0.

Namibia bounced back from their set-back by claiming a comfortable 13-1 victory over India.

Pool play action in Italy is due to continue tomorrow with the playoffs set to begin on Wednesday (June 15).

The men's competition is scheduled to start on June 20.
