Hosts Brazil and Australia both made it two victories out of two at the Rio 2016 women's basketball test event - to set up a showdown for overall honours tomorrow.

The Brazilians, fresh from their 112-41 demolition of Venezuela yesterday, saw off South American rivals Argentina 66-52 at the Carioca Arena 1 in this summer's Olympic host city.

They had to come from behind, however, as Argentina led 22-13 at the end of the first quarter to silence the home crowd.

Clarissa Cristina dos Santos, a forward for Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) outfit Chicago Sky in the United States, starred in the comeback as she racked up a "double-double" of 13 points and 15 rebounds.

The Australians, who eased past Argentina 87-37 in their first clash, were in similar good form as they thrashed the Venezuelans 104-24.

Both Cayla Francis, who recorded 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Nat Burton, with 15 points and 13 rebounds, recorded double-doubles after the Australians had got over the shock of Venezuela opening up a 4-0 lead.

At one stage the Australians, who are the Oceania champions and as such have qualified for Rio, racked up 45 points with only three coming in that period by way of a reply.

"They are a pretty young team and not very big," coach Brendan Joyce said.

"They can be tough games to play sometimes as you can switch off and go up and down but I thought we did well in playing the right way both offensively and defensively."

Brazil and Australia will now meet tomorrow to decide the winners of the round-robin competition, while Argentina and Venezuela, who will both be trying to qualify for the Olympics at the World Qualifying Tournament, will clash in a contest for the wooden spoon.

Basketball at the Rio Games will take place between August 6 and 21.

The United States, Serbia, Canada, Japan and Senegal have also already qualified for the women's tournament.
