Hermann, already a winner on her home tracks in Winterberg and Königssee this season, completed her two runs in a time of 1 min 41.08 sec to take her place on top of the podium.

Her nearest rival was Canada's Jane Channel, who finished 0.41 behind but did claim her best ever World Cup result by clinching silver.

Defending World Cup champion Janine Flock was third with the Austrian a further 0.50 adrift of Hermann.

There was also a personal best for American Kendall Wesenberg who was fifth behind team-mate Anne O'Shea.

The outcome means Hermann has increased her lead in the overall standings, with the German now boasting 1077 points ahead of her compatriot, Youth Olympic Champion and World Championship runner-up Jacqueline Lölling, who has 948.

Channel is currently third on 930 points.

Dukurs, meanwhile, is cruising to the men's title as he made it five wins out of five this season.

The 31-year-old Latvian, a double Olympic silver medallist, was timed at 1:38.35 which was 0.38 quicker than Sungbin Yun of South Korea who claimed a third consecutive podium.

Axel Jungk of Germany came third 0.70 seconds behind, to seal a second podium finish of the season.

Dukurs, the winner of the past six World Cups, has the maximum available points haul of 1125 in the overall standings, with Jungk second on 970.

Yun is third in the standings with 940 points ahead of the next leg of the season, which will take place in Whistler in Canada on January 22 and 23.
