The National Lotteries and Control Board (NLCB) released “Going for Gold” instant scratch cards during July, in conjunction with the TTOC, as the country bids to win ten gold medals by 2024.

A total of 500,000 scratch cards were printed in the first batch, with additional quantities available depending on sales.

It was aimed that the cards would generate TTD $250,000 (£25,000/$39,000/€36,000) for every 500,000 cards sold.

The first installment, totalling TTD $50,000 ($5,250/$8,000/€7,200) was presented to TTOC President Brian Lewis at a ceremony held at Olympic House, with NLCB Instant Lottery Games Supervisor Candy West presenting him with a cheque.

Lewis praised the support for local sportsmen and sportswomen from the public buying the cards, and stated he was “deeply appreciative” of the TTOC’s partnership with NLCB.

“The introduction of the game is a new concept and the TTOC will do its part to support NLCB in the promotion of the game," he said.

“Our strategic marketing plan is very social and digital media oriented.

“With next year being an Olympic year, the public's support for the game is important as our athletes need the support.”

The "Going for Gold" initiative marks an extension of the #10Golds24 scheme which aims to inspire sporting growth up to Rio 2016 and beyond.

Launched in December 2014, the programme aspires to make the dream of the country achieving ten Olympic gold medals by the year 2024 a reality.

Trinidad and Tobago secured four medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games, with javelin thrower Keshorn Walcott securing gold for the Caribbean nation.
