The original deadline was today, but in response to a supposed high level of press interest, and many requests for more time to submit applications, it has been pushed back by four weeks.

Media representatives interested in covering Baku 2015 are encouraged to apply before the final deadline as accreditations beyond this date will not be accepted.

Once approved, international press will be sent a pre-valid card which will serve as their visa to enter Azerbaijan.

Members of the press are also advised to book their rooms in the newly constructed Media Village as soon as possible with spaces limited.

Inclusive of breakfast, single rooms cost €50 (£36/$54) per night, while twin rooms are charged at €65 (£47/$71) per night.

The Media Village is adjacent to the Athletes' Village, and as well as serving as a transport hub for all venues, it will also provide working and catering facilities.

Baku 2015 is scheduled to take from place June 12 to 28, with a total of 20 sports due to feature at the Games. 

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe are set to represent their nations over 17 days of competition.

More than 700 media have already applied for accreditation to cover the Games, it is claimed by Baku 2015.
