It was a supreme performance from the 2014 winners as they set out to defend their crown, claiming victories in all five bouts with unanimous decisions from the judges, asserting their dominance from the very first fight when 18-year-old Yohanys Argilagos, the youngest of the Cuban boxers, registered the first win.

The teenager showed good defence and combined that with speed and effective punches to get his team off to the best start against the debutants.

His performance was backed up by London 2012 Olympic champion Robeisy Ramirez who came through a bout with Hamout Mohamed to put the defending champions within one win of an overall victory in the first group game.

The opening fixture win was achieved by Yasnier Toledo, with the Olympic bronze medallist cruising through his light welterweight division match.

The rout was completed by Arlen Lopez and Erislandy Savon, with heavyweight Savon, voted the best boxer of Season IV with an unbeaten record, delivering a knockout after a minute of his bout.

Although beaten heavily, the Moroccan team will hope to bounce back in their next Group A fixture, where they will face the Mexico Guerreros, who suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Ukraine Otamans, in a match which also took place last night.

The tie will be held in Mexico City on January 24, with the Cuba Domadores returning to the ring on the same day looking for a second win against the Algeria Desert Hawks.

Four more matches take place this evening: Azerbaijian Baku Fires take on the Italia Thunder Boxing Team, Argentina Condors face the USA Knockouts, Astana Arlans Kazakhstan clash with Caciques Venezuela and Puerto Rico Hurricanes face Rafako Hussars Poland.
