Prime Minister General, Prayuth Chan-ocha, met the Thailand team ahead of the Asian Para Games in Incheon ©Getty ImagesThe 336 athletes, coaches and staff due to represent Thailand at the 2014 Asian Para Games in South Korea have been addressed by their Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Speaking ahead of the Games, due to take place from October 18 to 24 in Incheon, Prayuth claimed, that while it was important for the team to compete for medals, he would like to see the athletes foster relationships with competitors from other countries and enjoy the experience of competing on the world stage.

He also highlighted the importance of sportsmanship and encouraged the team to take pride in representing their nation.

A reception has been planned to welcome the team's return on October 28, during which cash rewards will be handed out to outstanding performers.

Thailand won a total of 93 medals at the 2010 Games in Guangzhou, China, finishing fifth in the overall medal table. 

Approximately 4,500 athletes from 42 countries will be competing in 23 sports at this year's event.
