More than 32 media rights licensees will cover the event, with people in around 160 countries and territories in every continent having access to coverage.

The deals have been struck by the UCI and media rights partner Infront Sports & Media for the Championships, which are due to begin on Sunday (September 21) in Ponferrada, Spain, and continue until September 28.

Both organisations have "focused" on Asia as a strong growth market after new exposure in South America last year through DirecTV and the Middle East through Al Jazeera.

Now India will, for the first time, broadcast coverage of the Championships through Sony Sport, as will Malaysia through Astro.

Fox Sports Asia will also show live coverage of all the road races across 18 Asian territories.

In Europe, Infront and the UCI have signed a new deal with RTP Portugal.

Live coverage and highlights will also be available on the UCI's official YouTube channel.

Last year's UCI Road World Championships were held is Tuscany, Italy.
