The International Cycling Union has launched a new website which it hopes will connect fans all over the world ©UCIThe International Cycling Union's (UCI) digital strategy has set out on a "new direction" with the relaunch of its website.

An "innovative" new website and Facebook page for the UCI will help it "inspire and interact with audiences all over the world", according to the governing body's President Brian Cookson.

The website has news, broadcast footage and a results service from events across all cycling disciplines.

There are also dedicated sessions on advocacy (cycling for all), women's cycling and global development.

The UCI wants the new website to become the "go to platform for anybody interested in cycling", with its aim to strengthen existing relationships, inspire and connect with new audiences around the world and grow the profile of cycling globally.

Its new Facebook page will act as an "interactive hub where cycling fans worldwide can share stories, images and videos".

It will sit alongside the UCI's existing Twitter and YouTube channels.

"The new website will provide a better user experience for existing fans and we believe it will help us attract new supporters from non-traditional cycling markets.

"Our digital advancements are part of the new global strategy for growth that is now being embedded across the UCI and we're looking forward to building on the momentum as we continue to take the organisation forward.

"There is still a lot of work for us to do, but I am pleased with the progress we are making and the direction in which we are heading."
