The event, which attracts the world's best players from China, India, Malaysia, the rest of Asia and mainland Europe, will take place at the 12,700-capacity venue - which is undergoing a £26 million ($43 million/€32 million) redevelopment - after it won the hosting rights through a competitive tender and partnership process.

"We are delighted to announce that the NIA will play host to the Yonex All England," Adrian Christy, chief executive of Badminton England, said.

"We have held the Championships in Birmingham since 1994 and the NIA is much loved by the world's best players and fans alike.

"We are excited at what the redevelopment of the NIA will mean to our event.

"Badminton is a huge international sport - the global broadcast reach over the week of the event is over 315 million, generating outstanding exposure for both the venue and the city.

"The wider partnership agreement will see the creation of a lasting legacy for the sport across Birmingham and the formation of new clubs as well as initiatives to promote badminton in schools and workplaces."

The transformed arena, which will feature a new waterside front of house atrium, an additional 5,926 square metres of pre/post show space, Sky Needles on top of the NIA to light up the skyline of Birmingham at night, and improved changing and training facilities, is set to be re-launched in January 2015.

Phil Mead, managing director of arenas at the NIA's parent company NEC Group, said the redevelopment will help attract more international and national sporting events to the British city.

"The NIA has a rich history of welcoming sporting events to Birmingham - we opened in 1991 with sports firmly in mind - and it has hosted the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships for the past 20 years," he added.

"We are thrilled to be selected to continue this partnership through to 2021; the Yonex All England is one of the highlights of our sporting calendar and Badminton England, the players and visitors alike will all benefit from the £26 million redevelopment of the NIA from next year's championships onwards."

The 2014 All England Open Badminton Championships is due to take place on March 4 until 9 and is one of five events on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Superseries circuit.
