Commonwealth Games Federation logoFebruary 11 - A recruitment process to find a replacement for Mike Hooper as chief executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has been officially launched.

The New Zealander, the CGF's first full-time chief executive, announced last month that he would be stepping down from the role after Glasgow 2014 following 14 years in the job.

Head-hunters Odgers Berndtson, Britain's leading executive search firm, have been appointed to recruit a replacement.

Among the attributes the successful candidate must have is to "provide business and commercial acumen, with the ability to negotiate contracts" and to "display excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong senior relationships across sport and non-sport stakeholders and partners, both nationally and internationally".

They must also have "outstanding communication and presentation skills".

A key role is also the ability to —"foster interest in governments/cities/CGAs to bid for future Commonwealth Games' (CG) and Commonwealth Youth Games' (CYG)", something particularly relevant at the moment with the CGF still searching for a bidder for the 2022 Games.

The advert also warns that the successful candidate will probably not be based in London.

"The CGF is currently looking at a range of options pertaining to its operational base which may include relocating their offices from their current London HQ," it says.

"Candidates must be prepared to relocate if required."

No figure of how much the successful candidate will earn is mentioned but the advert does claim "a salary commensurate with attracting the highest calibre of individual, who is seeking to embrace this high profile, international role, at a very significant time for sport and the Commonwealth Games movement."

The closing date for applications is March 14.
