Cardiff City Football Stadium is to hold the second Event Wales Intenrational ConferenceOctober 10 - The Welsh Government has today announced that the second Event Wales International Conference is to be held at Cardiff City Football Club.


Wales will be hoping to showcase their world class major event hosting capabilities when the event takes place on December 5.

The one day event is to be opened with a keynote address by the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, and will include a full speaker programme that examines the challenges and opportunities for Wales, the UK and the international events industries.

"I'm delighted that we can announce the details of the second Event Wales conference and can again invite some of the most influential event's organisers and owners to Wales," said Jones.

"In recent years we have developed world class major events hosting capabilities and have enhanced our reputation as an internationally recognised event destination.

"I'm proud to say that we now attract some of the world's most prestigious sporting, cultural and arts events at some amazing venues.

"I'm looking forward to speak to the delegates in December and to see how we can deliver further growth."

In the two years since the last Events Wales Conference, Wales have grown their portfolio of significant major events which now includes brands such as Rugby World Cup, WOMEX, Volvo Ocean Race and the Rugby League World Cup.

They are also discussing a bid for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Representatives from relevant Central Government departments, Local Government authorities, event owners and organisers, sports governing bodies and national and international federations, tourism and creative industry organisations, brands and sponsors and members of the media will all be in attendance at the December conference, with the closing address provided by Welsh Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, Edwina Hart.

Speakers confirmed at the event include Debbie Jevans, chief executive of England Rugby 2015, Tom Touber, chief operating officer of the Volvo Ocean Race, Mike Lee, chairman of Vero Communications and Peter Florence, director of Hay Festivals.

The Conference will conclude with a performance from singer Cerys Matthews.
