Britain have been drawn against the US in the 2014 Davis CupSeptember 18 - Britain have been rewarded for their promotion-clinching victory over Croatia last weekend with a tough match-up away from home against the United States in the 2014 Davis Cup World Group draw.

The team consisting of Scotsmen Andy Murray and Colin Fleming along with England's Dan Evans and Jonathan Marray took a 4-1 victory on Croatian soil to move Britain back up to the World Group for the first time since 2008.

But they now face the prospect of lining up against the most successful nation in the history of the tournament in February.

"When we faced Russia in April we were classed as the underdog but Jonny Marray did well and Andy came in for these games and it's been a great team effort," said British captain Leon Smith.

"It's the most exciting spectacle.

"Like what we saw in London at the Olympics, it's time for the fans to get behind the team and it's been character building for the players involved.''

Meanwhile, reigning champions the Czech Republic - who will face Serbia in an attempt to hang onto their crown in this year's final in November - are drawn to host the Netherlands, while last year's runners-up and three-time winners before that, Spain, face a tricky away tie in Germany.

Novak Djokovic's Serbia will play host to Roger Federer's Switzerland in another of the draw highlights, and Australia will travel to France.

Elsewhere, Japan will face Canada, Argentina will take on Italy and Kazakhstan will play Belgium.

These fixtures will take place from Friday January 31 to Sunday February 2 next year.
