halloffamecanJuly 20 - The Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame has announced that Canada's most decorated Paralympian, swimmer Michael Edgson, will be among the athletes to be inducted in a gala ceremony at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence.

"The Canadian Paralympic Committee wishes to congratulate Michael for this prestigious recognition," said Canadian Paralympic Committee President Gaétan Tardif.

"Michael's character and accomplishments in the pool truly exemplifies what being and elite athlete is all about.

"He continues to inspire the next generation of Para-athletes and we are proud to have him as ambassador of the Paralympic Movement."

Visually impaired swimmer Edgson boasts 18 gold and three silver medals from three Paralympic Games - including a nine-gold haul at Seoul 1988, and nine world records set over the course of his career.

Edgson was inducted into the Canadian Paralympic Committee Hall of Fame in 2011.

The gala event for the inductions to the Hall of Fame will take place on October 26 this year.
