The 24-year-old Beijing 2008 Olympian has also had the 400m freestyle bronze medal he won at the event revoked following an International Aquatics Federation (FINA) doping panel hearing.

Glæsner tested positive for the banned stimulant Levmetamfetamine - which, he claims, got into his system when he used an American version of the Vicks Vapour Inhaler - after a doping control test at the World Championships in the Turkish city.

His ban, which started on March 19, 2013, means he is now likely miss the 2013 World Swimming Championships, which will be held in Barcelona from July 19 to August 4, as the Danish Swimming Federation trails have already taken place.


The medal reallocation now sees Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri as the 1,500m gold medallist, Pál Joensen of the Faroe Islands as the silver and Poland's Mateusz Sawrymowicz as the bronze, while New Zealand's Matthew Stanley takes Glæsner's 400m bronze.

Glæsner has 21 days to appeal the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
