The 56-year-old (pictured top, right) will hold the position until 2017, covering the next Summer Olympics in Rio in 2016, while Salta's Sandra Isola (pictured top, left), who is also an International Hockey Federation (FIH) Executive Board member, was elected first vice-president.

"We face the need to make a serious transformation happen in Argentinean hockey," Fernández said.

"And we will give our all because we are convinced of what we are trying to do."

During the assembly, in which 30 of the 31 entities currently affiliated to the Argentinean Confederation were represented, second vice-president Juan Marcelo Weinbender, third vice-president Luis Paiola and secretary Mario Galliano were also welcomed to the Executive Board of the organisation.

Argentina's women won the silver medal in hockey at the London 2012 Olympic Games, while the men placed 10th.
