Joint womens R3  logoApril 5 - The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has revealed the schedules for the women's hockey World League semi-finals taking place in Rotterdam and London in June as the competing teams step up their preparations for the 2014 World Cup qualifying tournaments.

The Rotterdam Rabobank Hockey World League Semi-Final, on June 13-23, will see current world number ones and reigning Olympic champions, the Netherlands, playing on home soil against an elite field that includes South Korea, Japan and Chile in Pool A, with New Zealand, Germany, India and Belgium in Pool B.

Pool B matches begin the action with New Zealand facing India and Germany playing against Belgium on the first morning of competition, while Pool A matches of South Korea vs Chile and the home nation battling Japan complete the first day.

Day two sees India take on Belgium, Germany playing New Zealand, Japan against Chile and South Korea facing the Netherlands.

The final day before the quarter-finals pits Japan against South Korea, India against Germany, New Zealand against Belgium and the Netherlands against Chile.

The quarter-finals are scheduled to take place on June 18, followed by semi-finals on June 20 and placement matches and the finals on June 22.

Meanwhile, at the London Investec Hockey World League Semi-Final, which is due to get underway on the same weekend as the Rotterdam finale running from June 22 to 30, hosts England - featuring players from the British team that won bronze at London 2012 - will play alongside Australia, South Africa and Spain in Pool B.

London 2012 silver medallists Argentina, China, the United States and Italy will battle it out in Pool A.

China battle Italy on the first match of the tournament, followed by Argentina versus the US, Australia against Spain and England taking on South Africa.

The next day off competition kicks off with the US taking on Italy, before China play Argentina, Australia meet England and South Africa face Spain.

The last day of pool matches features games of the US versus China, Argentina against Italy, South Africa facing Australia and England meetingt Spain.

The quarter-finals are due be played on June 27, followed by the semi-finals on June 29 and the placement matches and the final on June 30.

All 16 participating teams will be hoping for good results to qualify for next year's World Cup in The Hague, although it has not yet been confirmed how many teams from each of the two semi-finals will make it through to the event, with this being largely dependent on the continental championships.

The men's Hockey World League Semi-Final tournaments will feature a similar format and will also be played in early summer.

Two Round Two tournaments have yet to be played and the schedules for the two events in Rotterdam and Johor will be announced at a later date.
