ANZ ChampionshipMarch 22 - The ANZ Championship, the biggest netball league in the world, has announced the most comprehensive Australian broadcast deal in the sport's history with every game of the competition to be broadcast live on Fox Sports.


The multi-platform deal will see all 69 ANZ Championship games, including the finals, broadcast live on Fox Sports while SBS also has rights to some matches and will produce weekly highlights shows on its free-to-air television network.

The event is played itself is contested by ten teams, five from Australia and five from New Zealand.

"We're thrilled the new broadcast deal will provide Australians with the ability to watch every game of the ANZ Championship live through subscription and free-to-air platforms," said ANZ Championship general manager Andy Crook said.

"The latest announcement supports our ambition of setting the benchmark for female sports leagues, not just in Australasia, but around the world as we continue to engage with our current fans and inspire a new generation."

The new broadcast deal means every game of the 2013 ANZ Championship will now be broadcast live on either side of the Tasman Sea via the event's existing partner Sky Network in New Zealand.

"It's a historic day for netball in Australia with Fox Sports, in partnership with Foxtel, delivering fans the depth and quality of coverage they've always wanted," said Fox Sports chief executive Patrick Delany.

"Never before have fans been able to watch every ANZ Championship game live until now with Fox Sports broadcasting all 69 games, plus the finals series, live and in high definition."

SBS managing director Michael Ebeid was equally excited.

"This exciting new partnership demonstrates a commitment by SBS to supporting women's sports in Australia and helping to grow the sports which connect our diverse communities," said Ebeid.

"Netball is the leading women's sport in the country and we are proud that now all Australians will be able to watch our elite netballers both in the ANZ Championship and in the Diamonds test matches on free-to-air television."

The 2013 ANZ Championship is due to begin on Sunday (March 24) with the Queensland Firebirds hosting the Southern Steel at the Brisbane Entertainment and Convention Centre.
