Jersey at Commonwealth GamesJanuary 30 - Jersey is planning to send its biggest ever team to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year.

Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey President Alan Cross revealed that he hopes that the team will be at least 40 strong.

That would beat the previous record, set at Melbourne in 2006, when 35 athletes from Jersey competed in seven sports.

Jersey, which made its debut in the Commonwealth Games at Cardiff in 1958, has won four medals, including one gold when Colin Mallett when claimed victory in the fullbore rifle event at Auckland in 1990.

Jersey sent a team of 31 athletes to New Delhi in 2010.
