Natalia Partyka_servingNovember 2 - The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced a shortlist for the Athlete of the Month award for October, with the public having until next Monday (November 6) to submit their nominations.


Those in contention include Natalia Partyka (pictured), who claimed the Para-Table Tennis European Championships in the women's Class 10 singles division undefeated.

Up against the Pole is Tatyana McFadden of the United States, who won the women's Chicago Marathon in 1 hour 45min 00sec, just missing out on setting a course record, and booking a place at the London 2012 Paralympic Games in the process.

Ponomarenko Valery of Russia is also in the running after claiming the P-3 event at the IPC Shooting World Cup in the USA, as well as a bronze in the P-4.

Belgium's Lars Mertens was the Most Valuable Player at the Wheelchair Rugby European Championships, where the defending champions claimed bronze.

The Swedish team which won the same competition is also nominated for its exploits, having beaten Great Britain in a thrilling final to clinch gold.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's men's sitting volleyball squad complete the line up after a four set victory over Russia in the final of the European Championships.
