Oceania Paralympic_Committee_logo_2April 14 - The first official website of the Oceania Paralympic Committee (OPC) has been launched  – complete with key information about the regional council's member countries, the athletes and the sports it supports.

Its goal is to help cultivate and develop the Paralympic Movement in nine countries: Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu and New Caledonia.

Launched by International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the site offers news and feature articles, images and videos plus information about the Paralympic Games and issues relating to Paralympic Sport classification and anti-doping.

Its unveiling is part of the IPC's overall digital strategy to develop a greater online presence for its members over the coming years; it is the first of a raft of new websites the IPC plans to develop and make live this year.

"Over the coming years the IPC aims to work closely with our members to provide them with the relevant tools that can help them grow awareness of the Paralympic Movement in their country or territory," explained IPC media and communications director, Craig Spence.

"This is the first of many websites we will be developing and launching ahead of London 2012, and by providing an online presence for our members we hope more people can learn about the Paralympic Movement and get involved."

The OPC, based in Sydney, was founded in 2006.

The website is available to view here.
