Starting at 7pm UK time today, July 28, our team being led by editor-in-chief Duncan Mackay will be LIVE BLOGGING from the Alexander Stadium where the Opening Ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will take place.





Prince Charles is to represent Queen Elizabeth II at the official opening, and Duran Duran are set to headline the musical component following performances from a choir with more than 700 voices and renowned artists and emerging talent from Birmingham.

The Games is being held in 14 venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Birmingham 2022 will feature 286 sessions across 19 different sports and eight Para sports and athletes from 72 countries and territories of the Commonwealth will take part.
