The event has already attracted worldwide headlines following the controversial decision to ban Russia and Belarus from the Games following the invasion of Ukraine.

Senior reporter Michael Pavitt, fresh from his ground-breaking reporting from the Winter Olympics, will be leading our team covering the Opening Ceremony with junior reporter Eliott Brennan. They will be bringing you the action as it unfolds in the Bird’s Nest for what is set to be another stunning event.

Joining them will be our historian Philip Barker, who will be casting his expert eye over proceedings in the Chinese capital and help put them in context.

During the Paralympic Games, junior reporters Owen Lloyd and Patrick Burke, assisted by senior desk editor Ali Iveson will bring you all the action from 9am Beijing-time/1am UK-time before passing the baton to Eliott for the evening session. Senior reporter Geoff Berkeley and reporter Michael Houston will also be assisting throughout the Games.

They will be backed up by a team at the insidethegames.biz HQ in London led by editor-in-chief Duncan Mackay and desk editors Neil Shefferd and Vimal Sankar and editorial intern Leticia Bila.
