do-you-know
insidethegames.biz is now accepting contributions on PayPal so you can support our world-class journalism?

The insidethegames.biz team at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing last month set the agenda when it exclusively broke the story that Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva had tested positive for a banned drug.

In the face of death threats and harassment from the Russian media and denials from senior sports officials, editor-in-chief Duncan Mackay and senior reporter Michael Pavitt carried on bringing news that was accessible to everyone.

Dan Wetzel at Yahoo! Sports wrote “journalistically, Mackay and Pavitt already own the gold medal of these Olympics… They have been proven correct with each development.”

The Daily Mail’s chief sportswriter Martin Samuel admitted that, without the “excellent team at insidethegames.biz”, the Valieva story may have been covered up by the authorities.

This was just the latest recent example of how insidethegames.biz has set the agenda in the Olympic Movement.

In January 2020 we were the first publication to report that the new coronavirus identified in Wuhan represented a serious threat to that year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In February last year, insidethegames.biz exclusively broke the story that Brisbane was set to be installed by the International Olympic Committee as the preferred bidder for the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics.

These are the types of stories that insidethegames.biz does every day of the year.

Over the past two weeks, there is no publication in the world that has followed the impact on the Olympic Movement of the Russian invasion of Ukraine as in as much depth and breadth as insidethegames.biz.

Now, more than ever, free, independent media that allows the public to make informed decisions, hold leaders accountable and hear a diversity of opinions is more important than ever.

Information and knowledge are powerful tools, and we would like to invite you to join us on our journey by helping to fund our independent journalism.

As insidethegames.biz prepares to celebrate its 15th birthday, your vital support would mean we can continue to report so comprehensively on the Olympic Movement and the events that shape it.

Every contribution, however big or small, will help maintain and improve our worldwide coverage in the year ahead. As well as accepting all major credit and debit cards through Stripe, dependent on your location, if PayPal is available it will appear as a checkout option after you have selected an amount.

It would mean we can keep our website open for everyone and continue to bring you stories like we did about Kamila Valieva for FREE for many more years to come.

Kind regards
