Pyeonchang_2018_logo_Dec_8December 25 - The Gangwon Provincial Chorus in South Korea has held a special gala performance to show support for Pyeongchang's bid to host the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The inaugural show, held in Gangneung City Hall, involved new performances from 18 local choirs from around the region.

Eight hundred people gathered to hear a number of special musical pieces composed to highlight the region's support for the bid.

The Gangwon region plans to host additional showcase performances in spring 2011 with 100,000 people singing at the same time across 19 areas of the province.

All the choir performances will be shown simultaneously via a television link-up, with the singers showing their support for the Pyeongchang 2018 bid as it looks to build momentum to the host city decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in July 2011.

One of the locations for next year's unique performance will be the Alpensia Resort where 20,000 people will gather to sing in the choir.
