fisues-logosJune 4 - Eurosport's extensive coverage will be a game-changer for university sports, according to International University Sports Federation (FISU) secretary general Eric Saintrond, as the Pan-European sports broadcasters prepare to make Kazan 2013 the best-covered Universiade yet.

Eurosport are set to offer unprecedented coverage from the upcoming summer Universiade in Kazan next month on a variety of platforms, including on their on-demand streaming service, Eurosport Player.

Saintrond hopes that this new exposure can gain university sports the acknowledgement that FISU feel it deserves.

"Eurosport is a platform that will give us huge visibility." he said.

"There will be 120 hours of live coverage across both Eurosport and Eurosport 2 channels,"

"The Universiade in Kazan is a huge project.

With even more sporting events on offer than at the Olympic Games and the chance for fans to witness the next generation of champions in action, providing coverage for the Universiade is a project that Eurosport see as one that will be beneficial to themselves, their fans, and university sports.

"The Universiade events are the breeding ground of future Olympians." said Eurosport's global director of communications, Heather Bowler.

"This is demonstrated by the fact that nearly 20 per cent of medals won at the London 2012 Olympics were by FISU alumni."

"This is a real step change for Universiades and FISU."

"We are very excited to be involved.

Fans from across the world will be able to stay up to date with live coverage, news and results via the Eurosport website and the Player service.

Eurosport reporters will also provide updates, interviews and insight live from the Games.

"Taking into consideration the new ways of consuming content we will not only produce television broadcasts, but will have the content accessible for fans to watch on PC, tablets, connected devices and smartphones." said Bowler.

Eurosport will deliver live coverage of eight sports from Kazan over the course of the Games, which run from July 6 to July 17.
