Gwangju 2015 have visited Hwasun County in a call for aid from the local Government ©Gwangju 2015Gwangju 2015 officials have paid a visit to Hwasun County in the South Jeolla Province in a request for aid from the local Government ahead of next year's Summer Universiade.

Gwangju 2015 secretary general Kim Yoon-suk and other members of the Organising Committee met with the Hwasun County Governor Koo Chung-gon to request additional manpower and facilities for the Universiade Gwangju 2015.

Hwasun will host all of the badminton competitions for Gwangju 2015 and Kim used the visit to urge the local Government to provide temporary facilities, and allow the use of existing venues, for next year's Universiade.

He also requested that Koo and his Government provided additional manpower in the form of volunteers and officials to assist in the smooth operation of the Games.

The visit also provided Gwangju 2015 an opportunity to inspect ongoing preparations for the Games and analyse the progress being made with venues and other facilities.

The main focus was on the Hwasun Hanium Culture Sports Center and Hwasun Lee Yong-dae Gymnasium, which will be used as the competition and training venues for badminton at the Games.

Badminton is one of the most prestigious sports in South Korea and its neighbouring countries with the contest being held across seven days - July 6 to 12 - during the Games.

Gwangju 2015 will continue their venue inspections in the South and North Provinces with visits to the local Government offices in Naju, Jangseoung, Mokpo, Muan, Jeonju with the hope of strengthening cooperation and producing a successful Universiade.
