Preparations continue in Gwangju ahead of 2015 Summer Universiade ©Gwangju 2015The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has completed a four-day inspection visit to Gwangju ahead of next year's Summer Universiade, where preparations on a number of areas, including uniform, culture events, the Athletes' Village, accommodation, and security were looked at.

There was also a focus on language services at the Games and transportation from the Athletes' Village for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as to the various venues being used for the event.

At the end of the inspection on Thursday, Jing Zhao, FISU Summer Universiade manager, commented on the progress of each area as well as emphasising the collaboration between departments in order to cover the various issues and responsibilities that will occur during the Games.

"Much progress has been made in each functional area and now is the time for all functional areas to cooperate with each other and become one functioning system," he said.

The FISU delegation, that included director of education, Kole Gjeloshaj, spoke about the protocols that need to be in place for Opening and Closing Ceremonies, award ceremonies, and the opening of the Athletes' Village.

Gjeloshaj praised the standard of the facilities to date and agreed that FISU and the Gwangju 2015 Organising Committee will continue to work closely together as preparations continue for the Universiade which takes place from July 3 until 14 and is expected to see more than 20,000 participants from 170 countries competing.
