The EPICS Forum, inaugurated last year in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP), was designed to deliver the values of the Gwangju Universiade, EPIC (Environment, Peace, IT, Culture) along with the UN's Millennium Development Goals.

It is due to run until 2015, the year of the Gwangju Univerisade, and aims to contribute to the development of youths and achieve world peace through sports.

The presentation competition will be held under the theme of "Sport Meets Art & Culture" and provides local and international university students the opportunity to showcase their unique perspectives and ideas to distinguished guests and youths worldwide through presentations given in English.

Groups of three to five students currently enrolled in university or graduate school, locally or internationally, or are currently taking a leave of absence from school, are eligible to apply for the competition.

Those getting involved must submit their application form, presentation file, a video recording of the presentation, ranging from five to seven minutes, and a photo of the applicants holding a banner of the EPICS Forum 2014, to [email protected] by July 25.

A team of experts will then vote for the five strongest applications, with their submissions posted on the Gwangju 2014 website and Forum website on August 1.

The winners will be selected by the speakers and attendants of the 2014 EPIC Forum, scheduled to take place on August 27.

They will receive the top prize of KRW₩3 million (£1,751/$2,949/€2,172) with the two teams in second receiving KWR₩2 million (£1,167/$1,965/€1,450) and two third placed team winning KRW₩1 million (£583/$982/€725).

The UNOSDP has also stated that it will grant up to six applicants from two-three overseas teams airfare sponsorship, which will pay for their flights directly to Gwangju for the final round of competition.
