The CSU is a Committee that inspects the preparations being made for the Universiade and reports to the FISU Executive Committee, which is responsible for making decisions necessary for the smooth operation of the Universiade.

The Committee is composed of experts in the fields of Games management, competition facilities and the athletes' village and consists of six members:

- Kemal Tamer, chairman of CSU and FISU assessor

- Hisato Igarashi, vice-chairman of CSU and FISU assessor

- Kenny Chow, member of CSU and FISU assessor

- Eric Saintrond, secretary general and chief executive of FISU

- John Warnock, CSU member and International Technical Commitee (CTI) chairman

- Shen Zhen, technical advisor for the Athletes' Village

Seven delegates from the Taipei Universiade Organising Committee, including deputy secretary general Kuo-Ann Wu, will also make their way to Gwangju for the final day of the visit in an effort to kick start their preparations for the Games in 2017.

Following the pre-inspection of 12 sports venues today, the CSU are set to inspect five more venues and receive reports on preparations being made in regards to Games management tomorrow.

Wednesday (March 12) will see areas such as catering, accreditation, accommodation and other cultural events inspected by the CSU members with the final day, Thursday (March 13), seeing nine more technical fields covered by the committee including publication, security and doping.

With just 15 months left until the Universiade, members of Gwangju 2015 are regarding the inspection as an opportunity to revisit future plans and prepare thoroughly for a successful Games.

Following the inspection, the FISU Steering Committee will hold a meeting on Friday and Saturday (March 14 to 15), with a larger FISU forum set to take place from March 17 to 22, which is expected to be attended by 250 participants from 70 nations across the world.

During this Forum, meetings of the Committee for Education Services, Committee for the Development of University Sport, and Gender Equality Committee will also be held.

The Gwangju 2015 Summer Universiade is due to open on July 3, and runs until July 14.
