International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has paid tribute to the winners of the IOC Coaches Lifetime Achievement Awards, Malcolm Arnold and Ulla Koch, who received commemorative statuettes in a ceremony at Lausanne's Olympic Museum.

Malcolm Arnold, one of the most respected coaches within British athletics over the past 40 years, has disputed the claim of the departing chairman of UK Athletics, Ed Warner, that he has left the domestic sport "in great shape" - and has warned that its future looks potentially bleak because of a neglect of coach education and development.

Malcolm Arnold, widely regarded as one of the finest hurdles coach in the world, has encountered a hurdle himself this week with the confirmation that British Athletics is pulling out of the High Performance Centre at the University of Bath where he has been employed since 1999. The decision has been taken to concentrate resources in the Centre at Loughborough University - ironically, Arnold's alma mater.

Malcolm Arnold, who has coached a succession of Olympic and world champions since 1972, will bring to an end 42 consecutive years of employment for British Athletics or its forbears at the end of this month in the wake of the national federation's decision to withdraw funding from the High Performance Centre at the University of Bath.

Youth Sports Trust chair Baroness Sue Campbell and veteran hurdles coach Malcolm Arnold have been named honorary members of UK Sport's Coaching Fellowship due to their "proven track record of delivering sustained success".
