The quartet of Anze Semenic, Jurij Tepes, Robert Kranjec and household name Peter Prevc claimed the win after posting a total of 848.4 points in the first round, which proved enough to beat Austria and Norway as the second round had to be cancelled owing to poor weather conditions.

Austria finished 43.3 points adrift of the imperious Slovenians, and Norway clinched a comfortable third with 784 points in front of the Polish team.

Tepes got the host nation off to a flying start with a jump of 237.5 metres, before Semenic leapt 216m and Kranjec followed with an impressive 225m.

That left Slovenian chances in the more than capable hands of Prevc, who edged teammate Tepes in the individual competition yesterday, and he did not disappoint as his effort of 218.5 m sealed a comfortable win for his team.

"I'm satisfied with my jumps today I'm proud that I was part of the team for the first time," Semenic said.

"Winning in front of the home crowd is amazing."

Austria also managed to produce a decent showing as Stefan Kraft, who was third in the individual event, leapt 226.5m, and he was well backed up by Michael Hayboeck and Manuel Fettner who both jumped beyond the 200m mark, however Gregor Schlierenzauer fell short on 195.5m.

"The Slovenian team made no mistake and they seemed unbeatable," Fettner admitted.

"I'm also happy with my jump, I tried my best.

"We like this hill a lot."

The result continued Slovenia's excellent run on home snow after Prevc and Jepes claimed a one-two in the individual competition the previous day.

Prevc's win ensured the overall men's title will go right down to the wire and the meeting in Planica concludes with the eagerly-anticipated last jumping event of the season, in which the Slovenian will go head-to-head with Germany's Severin Freund for the crown.

Just 44 points separate the two and Freund goes into the competition in pole position after he claimed four straight wins, although his run was ended yesterday by Prevc.
