Kearney was able to gain revenge in the women's final, coming up against the moguls gold medallist Justine Dufour-Lapointe and the determined American, who had been skiing perfectly all day, came flying out of the gate to pressure her Canadian opponent.

Her fast start forced Dufour-Lapointe to respond and midway through her run she erred, with the latter's mistake forcing her off her line and out of contention for gold.

The victory gave Kearney her first dual moguls world title and her third world title, having claimed her first in the moguls a decade ago.

Dufour-Lapointe's sister Chloe was also on the wrong end of the result in the minor final, as she was pipped to the World Championship bronze medal by Kazakhstan's Yulia Galysheva.

In the corresponding men's competition Mikael Kingsbury beat his compatriot Phillippe Marquis in a clean run men's final, as both men skied perfectly, but Kingsbury was able to come out on top and upgrade his silver medal in yesterday's moguls event.

Ultimately it proved to be a day of celebration for the North American nation, as Antoine Gagnon secured an all-Canadian podium, after Sho Kashima of the US was unable to finish the men's final.

This set-up the first clean sweep since 1999, when the Finnish team dominated the podium.
